Rockwood Lodge
Rockwood Lodge is a luxurious estate deep in the middle of Nantahala National Forest. The home rests on top of a mountain with unobstructed, 360-degree views of the sprawling landscape. The famous peaks of the Blue Ridge Mountains are also visible from the lodge. Its location is a well-kept secret, which makes Rockwood Lodge truly a hidden treasure.
We strive to create a five-star experience for our guests. Rockwood Lodge was constructed with meticulous detail to create a warm, inviting estate that raises the bar on luxury. With virtually no neighbors in sight, guests can enjoy their vacation in a highly exclusive setting. Plus, your reservation comes with the entire lodge, meaning you won’t have to share the lodge with anyone but your guests!
The Estate at a Glance
Rockwood Lodge is nestled off a steep, yet well-maintained dirt road. As guests come up the driveway, they’re greeted by the massive estate against an endless vista of tree-covered mountains. The exterior of the lodge is clad in Poplar bark and native stone, which creates a rustic and welcoming atmosphere. There are many large windows that reveal breathtaking views and illuminate the rooms with ample sunlight.
The inside is even more impressive. After walking through the front entrance, guests stand in awe of the warmly-lit great room. Exquisite chandeliers draw the eye up to hand-carved trusses at the top of a tall ceiling. Elegant furnishings are gathered around a massive, true-masonry fireplace. The main suite and an ADA-accessible bedroom are located on the main level and a grand staircase leads to additional suites, each with its own unique fireplace and truss designs.
A Brief History of the Property
In 2001, construction began and twelve years later, Rockwood Lodge was finally complete. Great attention to detail and the idyllic location of the lodge, nestled on 250 acres, is what sets it apart from all the others in North Carolina.
The property itself has a rich history, too. It’s home to one of the oldest log cabins in Macon County, dating back to 1882. Guests can only view the cabin during their stay, so it’s a hidden gem that few people have seen.
